A Better Way To Book Accounting Clients

There were times I seriously doubted if I was meant to be an entrepreneur. I tried every social media strategy, but nothing worked.

I did it all, and ended up exhausted, without clients.  Here's what I wish I knew earlier: Social media isn’t the best place for finding accounting clients. The trust needed doesn’t come through in reels or captions.

Plus, conversion rates on social media are super low – only around 0.9% to 1.7%.

So I did something all the gurus warned against.

I quit social media and turned to Upwork.

I know what you're thinking: "People only lowball you there," or "There aren’t serious clients." 

I thought the same.

But I was burnt out and frustrated. I figured anything was better than spending endless hours on social media. 

Here's the surprise:

There are high-quality, high-paying clients on Upwork. You just need to know how to find them and respond with trust and competence.

Plus, freelancer marketplaces convert better than social media—around 15% - 27%—because people are there with intent, ready to hire.

That intentional shift led to:

  • Booking $12,500 in contracts in just 87 days.
  • A six-figure business with just two clients. 
  • I reclaimed hours each week by not creating content. 
  • My mental health improved without the pressure of social media.

Not because I’m special, but because I stopped doing something I hated.
